David was a leader of the needy. He led those who were in deep waters like himself, those who were in trouble, people undergoing financial crisis and those who were not satisfied in their current states.
"He became captain over them" - Is it not strange that people in need preferred that warrior in hiding to lead them than a king (Saul) in government.
Falsehood is one of the six things the Lord hates. David's life and Doeg's false testimony are listed in 1 Samuel 21 and 22 appear on the list of what the Lord hates.
Although Doeg was present when David visited Ahimehelek in the Temple, Doeg failed to present a true eyewitness account.
Research your truth, establish your truth by finding witnesses before presenting information
